Your Luv Scrub May Not Be Enough

Your Luv Scrub May Not Be Enough

You exfoliate.

You have the Luv Scrub hanging in the shower. You use it faithfully. And somehow, a few days—or weeks—after your wax, there it is.

Another ingrown.

It’s easy to assume you need to exfoliate more. Scrub harder. Buy something stronger.

But preventing ingrown hairs isn’t always an exfoliation problem.

Sometimes, your skin is asking for something else.

First, why does the hair become ingrown?

After waxing, new hair eventually begins making its way back through the skin. Ideally, it grows up and out.

Sometimes it doesn’t.

Dead skin can make it harder for the hair to reach the surface. A hair can curl back toward the skin. Inflammation can complicate things. And for anyone with coarse or curly hair, ingrowns can be particularly persistent.

Exfoliation helps keep that pathway clear which is exactly why we recommend it.

But it’s only one piece of good wax aftercare.

You may be exfoliating too much

This one catches people by surprise.

If a little exfoliation is good, more must be better, right?

Not quite.

Aggressive scrubbing or piling multiple exfoliating products on top of each other can leave skin irritated. And irritated skin isn’t what we’re aiming for between waxes.

Your Luv Scrub doesn’t need to be used like you’re trying to erase something.

Consistency beats aggression.

Your skin needs moisture, too

Smooth skin isn’t simply skin with all the dead cells scrubbed away.

Exfoliation helps clear the way. But your skin still needs moisture to stay soft and conditioned between waxes.

So if your entire post-wax routine is:

Step 1: Exfoliate.
Step 2: Exfoliate again.

You’re missing something.

This is where something like Fur Oil earns its place in the routine. It’s lightweight and designed to condition both the skin and hair, making it a good complement to regular exfoliation rather than another attempt to scrub an ingrown away.

Please stop performing bathroom surgery

You saw the bump.

Then you saw the hair underneath it.

And now you’re convinced that with the right angle, good lighting and a pair of tweezers, you can handle this.

We know.

But digging, squeezing and picking can turn one small ingrown into inflammation, discoloration or even scarring.

If the hair isn’t easily accessible at the surface, leave it alone.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for an ingrown is stop touching it and call the authorities (PRMP).

Your clothes can be working against you

Friction matters, particularly after intimate waxing.

Very tight clothing, sweaty workouts and fabrics rubbing repeatedly against freshly waxed skin can contribute to irritation especially during those first couple of days when the area needs a little extra consideration.

Your post-wax routine isn’t limited to what you put on your skin.

Sometimes it’s also about what you’re putting over it.

Your waxing schedule matters

Waxing consistently can make a difference in how your hair grows back and how manageable your between-appointment routine feels.

When appointments become sporadic, you’re dealing with hair at different stages of growth every time.

That’s one reason we recommend maintaining a regular waxing rhythm rather than waiting until you can’t take it anymore.

Think of your wax appointment and your home care as partners.

Neither one is supposed to do all the work.

So…is your Luv Scrub enough?

For exfoliation? In most cases, absolutely.

For your entire waxing aftercare routine? That’s where we need to talk.

We’ll be the first to tell you, we LOVE, LUV SCRUB!

Your Luv Scrub helps gently lift away dead skin and keep exfoliation consistent.

Keep using it.

But think of exfoliation as one part of the routine—not the routine itself.

Your skin also needs hydration. Your freshly waxed skin needs a break from unnecessary friction. Ingrowns need you to resist the urge to pick. And your waxing results benefit from consistency both at home and in the treatment room.

Exfoliate consistently.

Keep your skin hydrated.

Don’t pick.

Be mindful of friction.

Stay on schedule.

Your Luv Scrub can do her job.

You just have to do yours, too.

Keep your smooth going.

Great waxing results don’t end when you leave PRMP. What you do between appointments matters, too.

Stay consistent with your home care, give your skin what it needs and let us handle the rest.
